Gay Real Estate

Hmmm very disappointed with a response I received from the Operations Manager of Gay Real Estate, http://www.gayrealestate.com after I made a query about relocating assistance to another state and asking about potential renting a house first before making a decision to buy a home in an unfamiliar area and seeking and wanting to do business with an LGBT organization for this process.

Dear Jodi:

Regarding your response to my query on your website seeking your organization’s assistance in relocating to another state and to pursue housing options with the ultimate goal to purchase a home in a new area and your reply that “…our agents do not typically handle rental transactions..” I reflect on the definition of a a real estate agent as a person who sells or rents houses, land, offices, or buildings. Seems contrary to your statement and in my professional experience as an insurance agent that has always seized an opportunity to network, assist, engage and help others even if it was outside of my direct occupation of “selling” insurance; helping outside of your product sell eventually brings business two-fold into your product pipeline. It is also my understanding that it is not at all uncommon for real estate agents/realtors to assist a potential client in renting accommodations before purchasing a home especially for an out of area person wishing to locate to a new area. As in the Insurance Industry this is establishing a relationship pipeline that potentially would lead to business for the real estate agents/realtors. I sought out your organization for this process. The fact that you state that your agents typically do not handle rental transactions, information on potential locations, favored areas to purchase and relocation information (which initially your organization offered to send me) I personally find insulting and especially since I sought out to do business with an LGBT organization. I will not consider going forward with doing business with your organization and would strongly suggest you re-evaluate your position on this especially your statement of not typically handling rental transactions which I’m sure from what I know of real estate agents is not the case as there are always situations where a seller may want to rent a home for awhile and a buyer may want to evaluate a new area before making a commitment to buy.

This is all in the realm of professional networking and I assure you coming from an insurance agent’s perspective these are all excellent opportunities for professional networking and professional referral networking all of which any agent in any industry would lick their lips for.

Presents letter as if I have been in negotiations with them to settle a debt and that it has been renegotiated. I have always been on a do not mail list. I do not appreciate receiving unsolicited invitations to settle my debt when I am not looking to do so. I have good credit and pay my bills. Additionally I am tired of being told that “mediation program has not been activated. Please call.” When you call the company to be removed from mailing list they state that they must have reference number on letter. Since I do not trust the company I do not want to provide that as it will imply authorization to pull my credit report further. When they call they are not friendly and are not accommodating in anyway when you express concern about not receiving future mailings. Some of these letters have a name on them and when you ask for that person they state the person does not take messages. I am on a do not mail list and state that upfront. My biggest concern is that these companies somehow are pulling consumers credit reports to make these solicitations. I believe this is fraudulent activity and is an attempt to prey on otherwise unknowledgeable consumers in this matter. I do not feel that a no rating company with the BBB should be allowed to buy or access your consumer credit report for any reason. These companies operate under different names throughout the company. I want this company and all companies that do business in this matter to not mail or call me for any of their supposed claims of settling consumer debt. Jessica verbally offered me the position as Health Plan Advisor and then confirmed via email. She wanted to start quickly in getting the necessary information from me in getting started with this position.

I was very excited to accept a temporary staffing position with Health Care Support Staffing. I accepted a position as a Health Plan Advisor with a major Health Insurance Company. This temporary position will address the influx of calls to be coming in regarding Health Care Coverage and Insurance for this major Health Insurance Company’s clients and to address policy changes that are to occur with the Affordable Care Act which begins open enrollment October 1, 2013.

The position starts 10/07/13/Monday

10/03/13/Jessica called me to inform me that her client has put this position on hold and that she did not know when the position would become available.

I called a couple times thereafter and each time was told that the position was just “put on hold” and she did not know when the position would become available.

10/29/13/11:44 AM/Called again to ask to speak with Jessica. This will be my fourth time calling. Finally got Jessica on the phone. I told her that I didn’t appreciate not having my calls returned. I asked what the status of the position was. She said that she had no further information on. I advised that I was offered this position verbally and via email. Advised that I took action to prepare for this job. She said that she told me upfront that this was a contract position and that I took action on quitting my job was my job. I told her that I took action after I was offered the position as how can I work around a full time job (as this position is). She said that she is responsible to the client and that I am not the client. I asked what other positions were available and she said she had nothing else. I advised that I filed a complaint with the better business bureau for unfair practices. She said that the BBB would understand the nature of what they do. She said given that she doesn’t see how working with me would now be an option. I concluded the call.
10/29/13/11:55 AM/513-872-8302/Left vm with Troy Dolwick, Anthem Blue Cross regarding position of Health Plan Advisor. Advised that I was calling as to status of position as temp agency advised that position was put on hold.

Complaint Description:

HealthCare Support Staffing recruited me for a job opportunity and pulled my credit, background, education background, and references and offered me a position with a guaranteed start date and then cancelled the appointment two days prior to the job start date. I had to resign from a current job to accept this position. Additionally I am concerned because I have provided personal, professional and financial information to this company and I am concerned as to why this company would go thru this time process and cost to pull this information. I am concerned for my personal information and financial protection. I have made subsequent calls asking for the status of the position which I’m told has been put on “hold”. the last two calls have went unanswered. This poor service and break of contract has resulted in loss of income for myself as well as concerned for private, professional, and financial information.

Your Desired Resolution:
What I want:

  1. $2,000 compensation for wages lost for accepting this position and terminating my current position in preparation for this position offered.
  2. A written explanation as to what had happened.
  3. A guarantee that my private, professional, and financial information will not be compromised with them. This is to be accomplished by providing me with identify/financial protection service for a period of one year at the company’s expenses. Additionally, I want a written statement to this effect.
  4. A commitment from the company that these types of recruiting practices are damaging to people they recruit for employment positions and that they will review and change them so that this does not occur again.

  2. I am tired of receiving unsolicited emails from scam operations such as the one I just reported on.  If you have been receiving this crap as well, please feel free to use my complaint as a template to file one of your own. My concern is that companies send this information out hoping to get an unsuspecting consumer.
  3. Additionally I do not favor that these companies have access to our three credit reporting agencies in accessing our information for such practices. Not to mention that I am on a do-not-mail list.
