No, we absolutely do not. We have people from all over dumping in our back property.

We have had the police out here a few times because people have illegally dumped back there. Hard to clean up when everyone is putting all there stuff back here. It’s a constant headache. As soon as we have cleaned it up, It’s filled up again. We can’t even mow. We’ve seen trucks come by and thrown construction trash there.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for the outreach. It is much appreciated. You have mentioned that you have seen activity and that you have seen truck dumping and your other post mentions the city won’t do anything. I assure you we can get results. Unfortunately though as citizens there are actions that are necessary for us to do to make change and part of it is diligence when we can and cleaning up as well.
Let’s compare notes on this matter and make a clean space of this area. Would you like to meet for coffee and make a change? If so send me your contact info via WestgateHeights@yahoo.com

Thanks and much appreciated that you posted.

I think my husband has already addressed this, and that would be fine – we’d like to have a meeting. We’ve had so many problems around here it’s unreal. I do think that ” I really suspect that they just dump the trash over the fence,” was not professional, and it’s really a lack of curiosity on part to find out what was going on. We’ve call the Nail-a-dumper, we’ve had police reports, we’ve called 311 a million times in the almost 14 years we’ve lived here. We caught redhanded the duplex (the one that is now an eyesore and burned up the back) throwing construction trash, and they have had a number of renters in and out of there and every time someone moves they throw all of their household trash out there. I’ve personally seen trucks go down the street throwing bags into each 300 gallon bin all the way down the street. Yes, I agree, we need to keep it up more, but we’re fighting a losing battle. We also have a cable line hanging from the back pole that it looks like someone cut, and I called 311 twice and was told that they can’t do a thing about it, I would have to call the company who owns the line. I would have no idea who that is. When the city does nothing when you call, and it keeps happening, I really want to know what you do. This is not a new problem, this happened to the people who lived in the house before us, in the 1990’s.

Let’s meet then and collectively work together. I do a lot of community advocacy. Your posts on here demonstrate your concern and what you’ve attempted to do. Appearances are everything and it is a losing battle especially when one feels like they are the only one’s carrying. There are processes and techniques that will get results you desire. I have reported many times the dumping of the duplex eyesore behind you directly to Columbus311 and to the owners of the property. The bulk trash recpticle in the backyard now is a result of the call. I look forward to meeting you and your husband. If you know of your neighbor interested as well let me know.

    Hi Stanley,
Our back fence is a neighborhood dumping ground. When people get evicted in the duplexes on Chase or remodel it ends up back there. Plus people continually drive back there and drop garbage and construction waste from other areas. We have tried to get help from the city and they do not care. Nothing in that picture is ours BTW. Thank you for the character assassination and the public shaming. We appreciate it very much.

Hi Troy, thanks for the outreach. It is much appreciated along with the additional information. You have mentioned that you have seen activity and that you have seen truck dumping and your other post mentions the city won’t do anything. I assure you we can get results. Thanks and much appreciated that you posted and offered that the trash dumping is not yours. There is a difference between public shaming and bringing awareness to problems in our community. Community groups work hard to get this trash removed and bring awareness to this issue. It involves diligence, documenting it, reporting it, and of course following up. There is an education component as well. We address this in our Blockwatch meetings.

The exception that was taken was the assumption in a public post that the homeowner was the sole source of the garbage and that we were throwing it over the fence. This has been a thorn in our side for the last 13 years and we get no help. Half the time we cannot get out of our gate back there because another truckload was dumped or a remodel was done on the street. The trash cans also get completely filled up by people who do not live around here. This is an illegal dumping area but we are not the dumpers.Yes we would like to get together and get something done. Please contact us at jennifer_dallman@earthlink.net

I will contact you tomorrow. I have been watching and observing this stretch along with the house next to you as well as the Chase side for several years. Most dumping occurs when it appears the area it is being dumped on is not cared for. Of course diligence applies as well and since you’ve observed this activity this is is good information to have. Have a great Sunday. So glad you read this post. Please join our Facebook page: WestgateHeights in existence since 2007.
